Tom Menino is Anti-Labor

Menino Embraces

Republican Policies

     Boston’s Democratic Mayor Tom  Menino recently embraces Massachusetts  Republican Governor Mitt Romney’s  proposal calling for the elimination of both  Collective Bargaining agreements for Middle  Level Managers and the State run Civil  Service Commission.

     Menino, who considers himself the Labor  Mayor, feels that middle level managers do  not deserve union protection.  Currently  nearly 2000 City employees are members of  the Salaried Employees of North America  (SENA)Union.

     Menino also embraces the idea of  eliminating the State run Civil Service  Commission.  The Commission, which was  created to protect employees from heavy  handed retribution from city managers, is the  only place city union employees feel they  can receive a fair, unbiased decision on  labor issues.

       As the City of Boston prepares to host  the Democratic National Convention, many  find it troubling that the Democratic Mayor  has publicly embraced Republican ideals.   Some wonder if Tom Menino has exposed  his true colors, and openly ask;  ;

Is Tom Menino

a Closet Republican?

Menino they are tired of

his anti-union rhetoric.

Police union members

held signs condemning

the Mayor for providing millions for developers, consultants and cronies, while threatening to lay-off police officers.

     Menino also threatens to cut Health Care, eliminating both the Tufts and HMO Blue plans.  Nearly 50% of all city employees choose these plans to provide health care for their families.

     At the Bargaining table, Menino administrators disregard Massachusetts Bargaining Laws by implementing Menino proposals, even though the rules require they stay at the main table.
